The European Institute for Mental Health is preparing to launch two comprehensive continuing education programs designed for working professionals in the fields of systemic counseling and therapy. These part-time programs are aimed at experts from psychosocial, educational, medical, and therapeutic backgrounds who wish to deepen and professionalize their skills in systemic practice.
The upcoming program in Systemic Counseling (two years) will provide a solid theoretical foundation and practical methods for systemic thinking and working. Participants will be qualified to accompany individuals in transformation processes in a professional, resource-focused, and relationship-sensitive manner—whether in one-on-one or group settings, counseling environments, or psychosocial contexts.
Core topics include:

- Systemic Theory & Methodology
- Counseling Techniques & Solution-Focused Methods
- Contract Clarification, Goal Setting & Process Design
- Systemic Stance & Self-reflection
- Family Diagnostics
- Supervision/ Intervision and Peer Group Work
- Self-Experience

Building on the first program, we are developing the curriculum for Systemic Therapy / Family Therapy (3.5 years), which follows successful completion of the Systemic Counseling program. This advanced qualification is designed for professionals with therapeutic experience who wish to apply systemic therapy approaches in a clinically grounded way—particularly in the treatment of mental health issues, family conflicts, or complex relational patterns.
Key focuses include:
- Systemic diagnosis & hypothesis formation
- Working with ICD-10 symptoms in relational contexts
- Integration of trauma and attachment perspectives
- Multigenerational perspectives & genogram work
- Interventions in couple and family contexts
- Ethics, stance & professional identity
Both programs are aligned with the standards of the Bulgarian Association for Family Therapy (BAFT) and will lead to certification at a later stage.
If you are interested in participating or contributing, we look forward to hearing from you. Further information about start dates, application procedures, and entry requirements will be announced on our website and social media channels.
